PROGRAM REVIEW
Explore below to discover what our immersion program has to offer.
Guided by the Seasons
Our program evolves throughout the year, allowing participants to experience the seasonal traditions, livelihoods, and culture that shape life in Shirakawa-chō.
Spring - Renewal
As winter fades and the countryside awakens, spring marks the beginning of a new cycle in rural Japan. Participants may take part in rice planting, mountain vegetable gathering, community festivals, and cherry blossom viewing while experiencing the energy and optimism that accompany the arrival of a new season.
Autumn - Harvest & Tradition
As the mountains transform into brilliant shades of red and gold, autumn brings the harvest season. Participants may experience rice harvesting, mushroom foraging, food preservation, and community traditions while enjoying some of the most spectacular scenery of the year.

Long days and warm weather bring life outdoors. Summer offers opportunities to enjoy river activities, tea harvesting, local festivals, fireworks, agricultural work, and cultural exchanges with local youth. It is a season filled with activity, connection, and celebration.
Summer - Nature & Celebration

Winter offers a quieter perspective on rural Japan. Through seasonal cooking, mochi making, traditional crafts, New Year customs, and community gatherings, participants can experience the warmth, hospitality, and traditions that bring communities together during the colder months.

Winter - Crafts & Community
